Clojure. A lot of people says that learning Clojure will make you a better programmer, but I guess that is true for other programming languages.

A post was split to a new topic: Anyone know how to get into Go from an Elixir background?

At this time, I’m interested learning Rust and Rustler Hex package in order to write Elixir code that communicates with Rust.

I only recently realised what is the most important factor for me in choosing next technologies and languages to learn. It’s the community. Not just the size or activity, but the general atmosphere around the tool. How would I feel being among them and whether I want to acquire personal treats from them (because when you’re part of a community, your personality morphs towards it whether you want it or not).

That’s why I am not attracted to otherwise interesting Haskell whose community vibe is mostly “You are real stupid if you don’t get how monads work”, or to fast and memory-safe Rust, where community looks a little cult-like to me.

I think I want to learn Zig. It seems friendly and not overhyped yet
