From what I know, Yahoo is still quite popular in Japan.
But yeah, I remember the good old days when I first started using the internet, Yahoo was more popular than Google back then.
And wow, just reading the word “geocities” brings back so many memories…

One fun yahoo story: in 2017 I couldn’t access one of my older yahoo email addresses and support was non-existent. If I didn’t do anything I’d lose the email and it was very important stuff.
So I tweeted at Marissa Mayer then CEO of Yahoo and stated my plight and next thing you know, I got contacted by Yahoo support, a high level concierge service for VIP members.
I was shocked when I got the email and even surprised when my account was restored without any loss of data or any charge
Yahoo holds a lot of great memories for me, including emails from 2005 to date. It’s a shame it went out just like that, but every story has an ending..
