Guess this survey basically reflects JetBrains users… tho here’s some of the most interesting parts to me:
JetBrains’ statistics are heavily skewed in the direction of “how much of our customers, who pay subscription to use our tools, use language X or Y?” – not saying their data isn’t representative for general tech popularity trends. It actually does seem it is representative. But as you said, it’s about their own users.
There’s a ton of people out there who manually customise their Emacs or Vim and will never stop coding C and LISP, for example.
Yeah think that’s what it is. Hopefully we’ll be able to provide some figures too as we already track activity - but even then it will only really reflect our users (though in fairness at least our users will be from a broader sample of devs).
