Hmm. I don’t get this, you mean the UK doesn’t have a National ID card system in place? So what means of identification do they actually use??

Digital ID cards is another step of a global ID. It’s easier to create one if you have all the data online. If you believe that global ID would make a world full of love and peace then you can’t be wrong more.

Now think twice about religions. Focus especially on those who’s “modus operandi” is to create warriors/soldiers. If digital ID cards would be introduced there would be no much time before you loose the rest of privacy …

Hmm, I see the points you raised and they are all valid @Eiji. I’m still curious about what sort of ID the UK is using currently. Also, what IDs do you use in your country? A plastic card, driver’s license, passport??
And unfortunately, the moves towards a digital ID are imminent. The EU announced no more stamping of passports for non-EU visitors. Instead, it will be fingerprints and facial scans.

This is like each country creating their own website vs the exactly same case with same AI chatbot integration. The point is … the added technology would be very similar if not exactly same and merging it would be rather a piece of cake. Current ID/passports of course follows some standards, so the officers validating a person on airport or border, but it’s rather visual stuff rather than technological (correct me if I’m wrong).
As far as I know still each country is using different security mechanisms, sometimes maybe different data and definitely the process for requesting document may be completely different (officers may request different data, documents and so on).
However digital IDs seems to be completely different at this point, so if you want to merge data you can simply fetch each database and merge them into one standardised with just additional column called country (later maybe just region or a simply update with new global id generation).
What does it mean? If you have digital ID you may not even realise when it would be changed to global ID. For ID/passport you would need a new global document. It’s like problematic update for Windows - it would be forced automatically without your knowledge. While everyday you may not notice it what would happen if such digital ID would get update exactly when you need to be hospitalised? It may cause very similar problems to forced update of the medical hardware …
Also people you would not like to see your data would be able to get it in no time. Starting from religion problems and ending with a mass leaks. You can lose everything without doing anything wrong just because your data is online.
The digital ID is not just for officers on airport or border as it would be also used everywhere else including shops. People you may be in stupid conflict can steal your data, the shop may have all the security problems that are possible now when withdrawing money from machine using credit card.
Soon such digital ID would be forced to be implanted under skin and then you have no protection. Everyone without your knowledge even people you never saw would be able to scan it, clone all your data and re-use without any problem. Data trading on black market would then jump on completely new level …
Seriously if money are on the street then not big % of people even think to return them unless it’s a huge amount and the person who found them may be in problem. With digital IDs it’s like everyone putting their data wallet on the street completely unprotected. All of this just for … what exactly? Being “modern”, “global” or “cool”?
But well … when I was alarming about “LLM”, when I was telling obvious things about marketing modus operandi like “rebranding” to “AI”, I was silenced … Today nobody care if someone is on the edge - people can be only excited or scared and good arguments makes no sense for the mass, but If you do not follow “mainstream” then you can’t agree with other people opinions completely regardless if you are right or no …
Now we have “AI” everywhere in browsers and editors. Soon we would be in similar case with digital IDs and no problem would be solved. People would still complain on terrible job market and other things that we “accepted” as normal. “Divide and conquer” - things that happen everyday that people not see or pretend to do so, as simply bad news make people feel sad … I know how it goes and I realised that people are so stupid they would agree on everything, so I don’t really care anymore …
Who to best call our situation? Hopeless … We have a crisis of trust, too few authority figures and therefore hope. Divided on tiny groups without leaders with a feeling that a “single vote can’t change anything” and so on … I said it so many times … we don’t need any new form of so-called “life” like “AI”. We are doing very well on destroying ourselves and we really don’t need a help in it.
