This sounds like a really interesting project, especially the mix of RuneScape-style skills, Zelda themes, and advanced Pokémon-style battles. The browser-based setup is also a nice idea since players don’t need to download anything.
The art and sprite sizing issues can be difficult, but getting feedback from players should help a lot. I’ll check it out and see how it plays. Good luck with the beta!
I think the sprite scaling issue is probably the first thing I’d focus on. If objects don’t share the same pixel scale, the whole scene can look a bit inconsistent even when the individual sprites look good. A fixed base resolution/grid might help keep everything uniform.
Blending RuneScape progression mechanics with Zelda exploration and turn-based Pokémon combat creates an ambitious foundation for a browser-based MMORPG. To fix your sprite layering and sizing issues, lock your game view to a strict pixel grid (like 16x16 or 32x32 tiles) and use dynamic Y-sorting so entities automatically render above or below objects depending on their feet position. Once you standardise your asset scale and depth sorting, setting up homesteading and prop placement will feel much smoother!
I have everything on local that is all functional but the scale is off and I been trying to fix every weekend from when I started topic. I might have to do the whole map, objects, and sprites again and some how get it right this time.
Here some pictures of the game.
