The iOS Instagram and Facebook app render all third party links and ads within their app using a custom in-app browser. This causes various risks for the user, with the host app being able to track every single interaction with external websites, from all form inputs like passwords and addresses, to every single tap.

It’s definitely concerning to hear about the level of tracking that Instagram and Facebook can do through their in-app browser.
As a business owner, I understand the importance of using social media platforms like Instagram to promote my products and services. However, I also want to ensure that my customers’ privacy is respected. In light of this information, I’ll be more cautious about the links and ads I share on Instagram.
