Recently users of many “smart” machines reports problems with them … internet usage, ads and so on … Why on earth we are supposed to pay our privacy after we bough a product? ![]()
After introducing such a problematic solutions for example game companies are shocked that people go on retro games or GOG where there is simply no DRM that’s basically only causing extra trouble (especially in long term as they get easily cracked in no time). Then a big surprise that people who are already used to crack a legal games prefer to download already cracked copy of game instead of paying for low quality product which often have tons bugs especially at the start and tons of paid DLC. ![]()
Why mentioning game dev here? I would not be surprised if companies would find a way for adding DLC to all smart hardware. Looks like there are already attempts for electric cars (not remember brand). Well … today almost nobody is interested in quality and everything is all around some weird “idea”, marketing stuff, company rules and who knows what else … ![]()
I recall there was a story last year of someone’s fridge that crashed thanks to a Windows OS update and he couldn’t open it. These so-called smart electronics that need to be connected to the internet are a nuisance.
