In last 23 years mostly I was playing Unreal Tournament and it’s GOTY edition from 2000 year, so yeah … It’s with me from childhood together with NES games. I’m pretty old-school player.
Anybody remember the old topic how “brutal games” do bad things with people? Well … I become a member of year many times in the best community, so …
Oh, I just wish that I had time for some gaming now and then. Alas, with a 1.5-year-old kid, it’s a bit challenging. I do watch a lot of Factorio on Twitch, if that counts.
When I have the time and energy in the evenings, after putting kids to bed, the one game I play 95% of the time is X4 Foundations. It’s an open-world sandbox in space - fly ships, engage in dog fights, live out your dream of being a space trucker selling goods, build stations, become an industry tycoon, or just plain conquer the universe.
The fact that it has a Linux native version helps also.
Great game! I am looking forward to getting Ragnarok (when it drops in price - I hate how much console game prices have gone up, they’re £69 here now!!)
I’m not up to date in consoles now, but I heard that Hogwarts Legacy have similar price. Haven’t played yet, but also heard that it’s pretty short (I mean the main story), but with huge world and lots of side quests/achievements. Unfortunately looks like all houses have most things exactly same.
A month ago I had the Factorio itch but very little time so I tried the Factorio Simplified mod. I really enjoyed the breezy experience!
Factorio Simplified is designed to let new or young players try the beauty of Factorio without overwhelming them too much.
Recipes are easier, high level items are cheaper, technologies require fewer flasks, a lot of intermediate items are removed.
Mod Settings allows you to modify how many intermediate items you want to keep, how cheap recipes should become, as well as the maximum number of allowed ingredients for a given recipe. Hopefully this gives you enough control over the game’s difficult and complexity that anyone can play, without actually removing any of the game’s core systems or denying access to any content.
I recently went through the preview version of Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played, even though the full version won’t be released until August. If you like RPGs or D&D, look it up. I think it’s the first AAA game made to run natively on M1 Macs.
I was playing Pokemon Red (yeah the old one from game boy) this weekend.
That brought me so many good memories =')
and finally, after 20 years I was able to catch a Mew xD
Now I don’t have time to play computer games. But I used to love playing games where you could build, or discovering new world (for example, the No Sky Man).
Finding time to play some games has still been challenging, but I just gave Vampire Survivors a whirl and it’s the only roguelite/like I’ve tried* that has hooked me.
I think it’s because runs are quick, the learning curve is nil, and (eventually) mowing down the monstrous hordes feels so satisfying.
Perhaps someday I’ll have the time and brain budget to jump into a complex game.
