I’ve observed multiple trends/eras come and go: GUI, web apps, the smartphone, cloud, etc.

My feeling is that this is not an either/or.

Is there / will there be demand for purely LLM coding? Yes.

Is there/ will there be demand for “traditional” software development? Yes.

AI is a very powerful tool that can work at various levels of the software stack. It doesn’t replace the software stack, though. Servers still exist, IP addresses still exist, compilers and interpreters still exist, databases still exist, stylesheets still exist, etc. etc.

Many profit-generating business activities still require specific systems to be build / maintained in specific ways, which require expertise in specific tech. That’s not going away.
