Techmeme - great for big industry news, like product launches, acquisitions, prominent hires. You get won’t Github projects on it, it’s not really for that
Hackernews - Relatively excellent content and comments on tech. events and lots of code projects are showcased and discussed
Twitter - Use it to follow a bunch of ML/AI people. There’s often too much non-technical fluff though, so I’ve removed it off my phone and only check occasionally.
I also tend to get my tech news from forums like this one. Also, I get news from podcasts like Thinking Elixir where they begin each show with news in the community. Last but not least, I also getting it from YouTube videos.
Hacker News and Reddit. Also that brutalist.report link looks pretty interesting… Kinda reminds me of some minimalist link-aggregator-aggregator sites I saw more than a decade ago.
I feel that the old days of such sites that we enjoyed would/are [slowly] dispersed in digital thin air. Might come back in another shape/form, with sprinkles of AI (a little bit of hate on it).
