The race to create the world's next super-app

ow many apps do you have on your phone?
If you’re anything like me, it’s a lot.
But imagine installing just one app that does almost everything - from buying a pizza, hailing a taxi, chatting to your friends and even booking a massage.
It does exist and it’s known as a super-app.
There are two major players in the market and the most popular, with over a billion users, is WeChat.
Created in 2011 by Chinese tech giant Tencent, WeChat started life as a messaging platform.
It is now estimated to offer more than one million services through mini programmes, which are apps created by third-party companies and accessible through WeChat.

People nowadays can do almost anything with their phones. It’s the beauty of it: technology in the palm of your hand that assists you. Food delivery, grocery shopping, socializing, automobile services, and investment banking operations are just a few of the activities that have applications today. My guess is that you have at least two different mobile apps for each of them on your phone, and you’re not alone.

Is it possible for a single app to provide all of these functions without requiring users to move to another app? Yes, and the apps that accomplish that are known as super apps.

Wechat from china is a great example of these super apps.
