Now for 79p a month you can even use their proxy (but it’s pretty unusable right now). I guess it’s the risk of them tracking us or the likes of Google. I hate what’s become of the web/tech tbh - I wouldn’t trust any of the big giants as far as I could throw them

Absolutely, but since I am using almost only Apple devices currently, having Safari’s centralized and synced bookmarks is too big of a convenience for now. And yeah, when I was using MacBooks before, Safari’s impact on battery life was much smaller than that of Firefox’s.
If I could manage bookmarks on my own I’d ditch Safari pretty quickly.

You can opt-out of Safari on macOS, though you “loose” all the “benefits” of the ecosystem.
