Ha! The UK has NO room to talk about anyone else being a surveillance state! It’s not a coincidence that things like 1984, Max Headroom (“An off-switch? You can get ten years for that!”), and V for Vendetta are set in England.
That said, though, equipment from China should be banned from any sensitive use for any number of other reasons, such as source dependency (not necessarily on one company but certainly one country), rampant spyware, rampany copyright infringement, etc.
Surveillance state is one thing (not much we can do about it) but I think it’s crazy how people willingly allow third parties to store their home/personal footage including conversations etc. Wasn’t there a story recently where Amazon’s doorbell cameras were spying on people? ![]()
