I dislike it even when purchased software wants to dial-home. I use Little Snitch to disallow outbound connections but after a while a pop-up often shows saying something like “We’ve been unable to verify your license for…”.

OpenSnitch in my case too yeah, it’s very nice to see that stuff. Highly recommended!
